According to HSWrestling, the NHSCA national wrestling championship “is a showdown where the best meet the best.” For wrestlers, the championship “will test your mental and physical toughness as a wrestler” and provides “a tremendous opportunity for the nation’s top-ranked wrestlers to collide with the ‘small school’ state runner-up, put the rankings aside, and prove [who is] the top junior wrestler in the country in their weight class.”

The high school nationals are in four divisions, for freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors. The top eight finishers in each division weight class are named All-Americans.

All-American James Flint placed sixth in the 112-pound weight class at the freshman nationals.

Under Head Coach Russ Cozart, the Brandon High School wrestling team earlier this year earned its 22nd state title and 11th state title in a row. Cozart has been at the helm for 21 of those state titles.
