Durant Football: Cougars Remain Undefeated With Chamberlain Win

The undefeated Durant High School Cougars beat the Chamberlain Chiefs on Oct. 12 to make it a 6-0 season. The homecoming game was played on Durant's home turf in Plant City.

 

The Durant Cougars remain undefeated with Friday night's shut-out win at home against the Chamberlain Chiefs.

On the night Morgan Heartsfield was crowned homecoming queen, the Cougars dominated play on the field with a 49-0 victory fueled in large part by Jamarlon Hamilton's four touchdown runs.

It was the third shut-out win of the season for the Cougars (see chart below).

After tonight's game, the Cougars in 2012 have amassed 206 points in six outings, averaging out to 34 points per game.

The win makes the Cougars 6-0 for the season and 2-0 in league play. The Chiefs left the field with a 2-4 record, including one league win and one league loss.

Next up for the Chiefs, under head coach D.J. Mayo, is a home game against  Wiregrass Ranch (Wesley Chapel).

Next up for the Cougars, under head coach Mike Gottman, is a home game Oct. 18 against crosstown rival Newsome. The Wolves are 3-3 for the season follwing their Oct. 5 win against Brandon (35-13). The Wolves, 2-2 in league play, did not have a game Oct. 12.
