Durant Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

It was homecoming at Durant High School on Oct. 12 at the Ron Frost Stadium in Plant City, where the Cougars extended their undefeated season and cheerleaders, fans and football players wore pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

 

Pink was the featured color at the Ron Frost Stadium at Durant High School in Plant City on Oct. 12, where football players, cheerleaders and fan sported the color in support of October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Among them was Sydney Robinson, a captain of the varsity cheerleading squad.

"Cancer is, of course, a big health issue, and we're making people aware," she said. "We have to spread the word that this disease is deadly and that we all have to come together to work for a cure."

Robinson said the cheerleaders every year sport some pink in October, for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and that this year the use of pink pom-poms was added to the mix, along with pink hair bows.

On the field, some Durant Cougar football players sported pink socks or pink wristbands and gloves. At the last pep rally, seniors sported pink.

Wearing pink throughout the month of October? "Our whole school does it," Robinson said.
