FHSAA Finds Armwood High Football Had 5 Residency Violations

The school's state championship could be taken away following a preliminary report of falsified addresses.

The Armwood High football team's state championship could be struck from the record books after a Florida High School Athletics Association investigation found five students had falsified addresses.

The findings of the FHSAA's preliminary report were announced by school officials at a Monday news conference.

The high school and the Hillsborough County School District have 10 days to respond to the findings. The FHSAA would then have 10 days to answer with any possible fines or punishments, TBO.com reports.

One of the players named in the report, FHSAA executive director Roger Dearing told TBO.com, is offensive lineman Jack Lightsey, who transferred to Armwood from Orlando's Dr. Phillips High prior to last season.

The FHSAA began a formal investigation last November into whether Lightsey was . According to media reports, Lightsey's family established a residence in the Armwood district in addition to owning properties in Orlando and in Pinellas County, but at issue was whether or not the family made a "full and complete" move to the area, according to FHSAA transfer rules.

Despite the investigation, Lightsey and the Hawks competed in the Class 6A state playoffs last year. Armwood clinched its third state championship Dec. 17, in the title game to cap a perfect 15-0 season.

In , 64 percent said Armwood should be forced to forfeit its season if a player was found ineligible.
