High School Student Art Show Opens With Center Place Reception Tonight

The annual show is sponsored by the GFWC Brandon Service League and this year showcases student work from eight high schools. The March 8 reception is open to the public.

 

Featured this month at the at Center Place is the work of Hillsborough County students from eight high schools.

The public is invited to the High School Student Art Show reception March 8 at 6 p.m., where awards will be announced and light refreshments will be served.

The show each year is sponsored by the GFWC Brandon Service League. The gallery is in the , which shares space with the in the Sandy Rodriguez Center, at 619 Vonderburg Drive.

“The show is very eclectic,” said Dawn Galia, Center Place’s executive director. “You never know what you’ll see."

On display is both two- and three-dimensional art work and photography.

Represented are students from Armwood, Blake, Bloomingdale, Brandon, Durant, East Bay, Plant City and Strawberry Crest high schools.

“There’s a lot of talent out there,” Galia said. “A lot of upcoming artists."

Coming to the opening reception, she added, “is a good way to support the arts and to support the students, to give them encouragement to continue pursuing their passion for the arts."
