Hillsborough's School Board: Back-To-School Countdown (Day 30)
Oversight for the Hillsborough County School District comes at the hands of seven School Board members who will meet 24 times between now and the end of the 2011-12 school year.
The Brandon Patch Back-To-School Countdown proceeds with this Day 30 report, offering news of interset as the first day of classes approaches.
Teachers in the Hillsborough County School District go back to school Aug. 15 to prepare for the first day of classes, Aug. 23.

The Hillsborough County School Board is scheduled to meet 23 times during the 2011-12 school year — not counting the Aug. 16 meeting, which marks the second day of classes for teachers and the week before school starts for students.
In all, there are seven school board members. The longest-serving member is Carol Kurdell, first elected in 1992. Right behind her is Candy Olson, first elected in 1994. The newest board member is Stacy R. White, elected in 2010.

School Board members do not keep regular office hours; they are accessible by phone, letter and email. (Keep in mind that under Florida’s open records law, every correspondence is a public record.) Board members also are available to speak to groups and organizations.
