Interested? There are some restrictions. An interested applicant must:

  • Currently be enrolled in college or have a college degree. (The minimum requirement is 60 college credits. Less than 60 hours requires a “Para Pro” test before screening.)
  • Be able to work during school hours and be available up to two days a week, either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday.

Hours at the high school level are from 7:20 a.m. to about 2:30 p.m. At middle schools, the hours are from 9-4 p.m.; for middle magnet programs, from 7:20-3 p.m. Friday hours could be available to complete the 20-hour limit.

In addition, the school district’s AVID program also seeks tutors. The AVID program works to help students develop the social, organizational and study skills necessary to succeed in college.

The application process for public school and AVID program tutor positions is available online.

Should an applicant receive a tutor screening, he or she will need to provide an official college transcript and two completed general reference forms.

Tutor training is at Mann Middle School in Brandon.
