Prep Football: Brandon Wins, Armwood Bows

The Brandon Eagles snapped their six-game losing streak with a 16-8 win against the Riverview Sharks. The Armwood Hawks lost to the Hillsborough Terriers 0-3. It was Armwood's second season loss.

The season's sole Thursday night football game brought the Brandon Eagles their first win of the season while the Armwood Hawks bowed to the Hillsborough Terriers 0-3.

The Eagles at home beat the Riverview Sharks, 16-8. The Hawks picked up their first loss in district play at Hillsborough's Chelo Huerta Field in Tampa.

Games were held Thursday night this week beause students in the Hillsborough County School District have no school Friday, Oct. 19.

With the Class 7A-District 8 win, the Eagles are 1-6 for the season and 1-2 in league play.

For the Hawks, it was a scoreless game in a 3-point loss that gave the Terriers a Thursday night upset win in the Class 6A-District 8 contest.

The Hawks are now 6-2 for the season and 4-1 in league play. The Terriers also are 4-1 in league play, and 6-2 for the season.

The Hillsborough Terriers this season also beat Middleton (38-0), Newsome (37-23), Strawberry Crest (32-24), Leto (65-0) and Jefferson (36-28). The Terriers slipped to a 1-point loss against the Sickles Gryphons (22-23) on Oct. 12.

The Hawks this season beat Brandon, Tampa Bay Tech, Leto, Jefferson, Sickles and Strawberry Crest. Their first loss was to the American Heritage (Plantation) Stallions (see chart below).

Remaining games for Armwood are Oct. 26 against Plant (at Plant) and Nov. 2 against King (at home).

Remaining games for Hillsborough are Oct. 26 against King (at King) and Nov. 2 against Chamberlain (at Chamberlain).
