Young Dancers A Hit With Residents Of Hawthorne Village

"The residents love seeing the children here," said Stella Ryan, Hawthorne's activities director.

Youngsters from Dance Quest International recently entertained residents of , with a dance show.

The students of Dance Quest’s Project Dance Camp rehearsed at Bell Shoals Baptist Church for the Aug. 5 performance at the retirement community.

“My daughter gets up every morning and can’t wait to get to camp,” said Nicole Dorr whose daughter, Dylan-Nicole, 5, attended the camp. “I told her she could go to several different camps but she just told me she wanted to go to ‘Ms. Mary Beth camp.’”

Mary Beth Maynard, owner of Dance Quest, ran the camp.

“The children really enjoyed it. This is second time Dance Camp students performed there and they came away and said they couldn’t wait to go back. Again this year they came out and said they couldn’t wait to come back,” said Brandon mom Virginia Jones.

“For some of our new parents it was the first time they got to see the performance and it was very touching for them,” said Jones who has three children in the program.

The children were also a hit with residents at Hawthorne, 851 West Lumsden Road.

“The residents love seeing the children here,” said Stella Ryan, Hawthorne’s activities director. “It’s very uplifting for them. They all talk about it afterwards.”
