Armwood vs. Jefferson: Hawks Remain Undefeated

Hail to the Armwood Hawks, who left Jefferson High with its first loss of the season, scoring a 28-9 triumph in Tampa on Sept. 27.

"Jefferson's explosive offense came into Friday's matchup averaging 445 yards per game," according to a Tampa Bay Times report on game coverage. "Friday, Armwood held it to just 237 yards."

Under coach Sean Callahan, the Hawks this year have scored 172 points in five games, giving up only 23.

Next up for the Hawks are home games against Leto (Oct. 11), King (Oct. 25) and Strawberry Crest (Nov. 8). The team will be on the road to face Lennard (Oct. 18) and Chamberlain (Nov. 1). The team has a bye this Friday, Oct. 4.

Will the Armwood High football team remain undefeated? The test comes tonight, Sept. 27, at Jefferson High School in Tampa, with the Hawks vying against the Dragons, who are also undefeated.

Which team will gets its first loss of the season will be decided in a match-up scheduled to start 7:30 p.m. at Jefferson in Tampa, at 4401 West Cypress Street.

The Armwood Hawks face off against the Dragons, who are 2-0 in district play and 3-0 overall. Jefferson's national rank is 339; its state rank, 28, according to MaxPreps.com.

The Hawks (3-0 in league play and 4-0 overall) are ranked 367 in the nation and 32 in the state, according to MaxPreps.com. The Hawks this season have scored 144 points, giving up only 14. The team's victories have been over Durant (48-6), Blake (32-6), Hillsborough (37-2) and Robinson (27-0).

As for their opponent, the Dragons in three games have scored 108 points, giving up 59. Jefferson's victories have been over Alonso (41-14), Hillsborough (28-23) and Robinson (39-22).
