Brandon High Eagles Dominate at County Wrestling Championship
Once again, the Eagles come away with more medals than any other school at the 2012 Hillsborough County Wrestling Championship.
The Brandon High School wrestling team continued its rule over area schools at this year's Hillsborough County Wrestling Championship on Jan. 28, walking away with eight champion medals.
It was 1973 that the Eagles were last ranked anything other than No.1 on the mat and this year is no different. With his athletes consistently being targeted due to the team's success, coach Russ Cozart uses their status as a motivational tool.

"We've won the county tournament ever since they started it," Cozart said. "Because of that we're always the favorite so others team are gunning for us but that makes it a lot of fun for us. We have a great tradition at Brandon and we always work hard to keep ourselves on top so that we stay the favorite."
Cozart was happy with his team's effort in the county championship and believes his wrestlers are well on their way to their ultimate goal. In all, the Eagles had 12 wrestlers in the championship rounds, with four of them finishing as runners-up.

"We set a goal at the beginning of the year to go undefeated and win a state title," Cozart said. "I think because we've had so many great wrestlers over the years that these guys always want to learn more about the sport of wrestling and go all the way to the top as champions.”
