Cozart's Hall of Fame Induction to Air on TV Wednesday

Legendary Brandon High wrestling coach Russ Cozart was inducted into the Florida Sports Hall of Fame last week in Tampa in a ceremony that will air on Bright House Sports Network on March 28.

Russ Cozart now officially stands among Florida's sports legends.

Cozart, the longtime wrestling coach at , was inducted into the Florida Sports Hall of Fame in a ceremony held last week in Tampa, joining Major League Baseball great Fred McGriff, Florida State star Charlie Ward and seven other Sunshine State sports luminaries in the Class of 2012.

Fans who missed the induction ceremony can catch it on Bright House Sports Network, which will air it in its entirety at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28. Repeats are scheduled for Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, Bay News 9 reports.

Cozart has racked up more than 500 career victories and led Brandon's wrestlers to 459 consecutive wins from 1973 to 2008, the longest national streak in any high school sport, as TBO.com reports.

Cozart won his 22nd state championship at Brandon last month when the Eagles , their 12th straight.

"It's been a great year," Cozart told Patch after the victory in Lakeland. "It's been a fun year."

The Florida Sports Hall of Fame was founded in 1961 by the Florida Sports Writers Association and the Florida Sportscasters Association and has since enshrined more than 200 members. Memorabilia from the Hall of Famers is displayed at the museum preview center at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale.
