Brandon Leaguerettes Opening Ceremonies

The opening day ceremonies for the Brandon Leagurettes slow-pitch softball league gets underway at 8:30 a.m. on Field No. 1 (next to the railroad tracks). The league celebrates its 40th year in 2011 and a special guest is scheduled to attend. The league's home base is on the fields of the Brandon Recreation Center. The Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department started the league in 1971 to "provide girls with an opportunity to compete in an organized league." The Pee Wee division kicked off in 2002.
