Legendary Brandon Youth Sports Coach Set To Retire

Terry O' Grady will lead his final coaching clinic July 27 at the Progress Village Little League.

Valrico resident Terry O'Grady was just 16 years old when he picked up a whistle and scorebook to coach his first youth sports team. 

Now, 42 years later, the legendary Brandon coach is hanging up his proverbial hat. 

But, before saying goodbye to coaching, O'Grady will hold one final sports clinic.

In partnership with Element Church Tampa Bay and Progress Village Little League, O'Grady will lead a day camp for families in and around Progress Village Little League July 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the little league's fields. 

The clinic for boys and girls age 6 to 16 is free to the first 200 registrants. During the camp, participants will receive lunch, T-shirts, more than 40 skills and drills stations, and the opportunity to sign up at a discounted rate for Progress Village Little League.

O'Grady is well known on the Tampa Bay youth sports scene. A lifelong sports lover, he's coached hundreds of youth as well as well as instructed dozens of new coaches.

He has served as the coaching certification director for Hillsborough County, created the Challengers League at North Brandon Little League, served as president of North Brandon Little League, served on the board of the Brandon Leagurettes, participated in various adult softball leagues, coached the District 13 Little League, and created and led the adult flag football league for Hillsborough County.
