Public Invited To See Lightning Draft Pick Jonathan Drouin Practice In Brandon

The first-round draft pick will participate in the Lightning's annual Development Camp July 6-10.

The public will have an opportunity to see Tampa Bay Lightning first-round draft pick Jonathan Drouin in action Saturday, July 6 starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Brandon Ice Sports Forum, 10222 Elizabeth Place, Tampa.

Drouin will be on hand with a number of the Lightning's other top prospects and draft picks during the Lightning's annual Development Camp July 6-10.

The camp is designed for the team's young, un-signed prospects. The team will host 31 players consisting of 20 forwards, seven defensemen and four goaltenders.

The on-ice portion of the camp will begin July 6 and run through Wednesday, July 10 at the Brandon Ice Sports Forum. The camp is free and open to the public.

During the camp, the Lightning's top prospects will compete in on- and off-ice workouts, power skating and shooting practice, culminating on Tuesday and Wednesday with the annual 3-on-3 tournament.  The final two rounds of the tournament will be streamed LIVE on www.TampaBayLightning.com with play-by-play by Lightning Radio announcer Dave Mishkin.

Also included on the camp roster are defenseman Slater Koekkoek and goaltender Andrey Vasilevskiy, both former first-round picks, as well as forwards Brian Hart (second round, 2012) and Nikita Kucherov (second round, 2011).

Of the players attending the camp, there will be seven invitees, four players signed as free agents and 20 draftees. 

The third overall selection of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Drouin was the star player of the Halifax Mooseheads, amassing 41 goals and 105 points last season. He was recognized as the Canadian Hockey League’s MVP as well as the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s MVP.
