BSAC News: A New Ramp, a Top Tennis Champ and an Olympian's Visit

In news from the Brandon Sports & Aquatic Center, Jennifer Ho ranks No. 1 in the country, an easy access swimming pool ramp is installed and the Olympian Fitter and Faster tour makes a stop next month.

Five thousand dollars, or, as Lori Bukaweski, the center's associate director put it, "one tennis tournament and two Buncos."

The ladder aids entry into and out of the pool for older swimmers and for people with difficulty using the traditional straight up- and-down ladders.

"We rallied for a ramp and the ramp is here," announces BSAC on its website's homepage. "Thanks to the participation and heart of many people, our senior citizens, Team TRIDENT members and expectant moms can now exit and enter the pool with ease."

In other BSAC news:

  • Jessica Ho, 15, won the International Spring Championships, Girls' 16's Singles, in Carson, CA, this month. Coached by Alex Golub, in BSAC's HI Performance program, Ho is ranked No. 1 in the country in her age category.

  • Gil Stoval, a 2008 Olympian, and Emily Silver, a silver medalist and NCAA champion, will be conducting in-water clinics at the Fitter and Faster Tour at BSAC, from 1-4 p.m. on May 5. The Olympians also will answer questions and pose for pictures with swimmers. The cost is $75.
