Who's Marching in Brandon's 4th of July Parade

Use this chart to see who's coming down the street at the Greater Brandon Fourth of July Parade. The "Pioneering Families" themed parade kicks off at 10 a.m. Links to the parade guide and to the Brandon Patch parade photo contest are included as well.

 

The Greater Brandon Fourth of July Parade, and its tribute to the town's "Pioneering Families," kicks off today, July 4, at the corner of Lumsden Road and Parsons Avenue at 10 a.m.

The parade features 34 floats and 111 units and is expected to take at least two hours to run its course, north on Parsons and east on Robertson, with a final resting place west of Kings Avenue in the parking lot of the shopping center anchored by , and the .

The parade each year is presented by the Community Roundtable, an organization that meets the second Wednesday of the month at the , open to members of the community who work with and support area nonprofits and charities.The meeting time is 6:30 p.m.

At this year's parade, among its many highlights, the Westside chapter of the Nam Knights organization is expected to showcase a in New York.

The MacDill Air Force Base is expected to showcase some 40 parade marchers, including Col. Lenny J. Richoux, commander of both the MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa and the 6th Air Mobility Wing, who will be there to say goodbye. Richoux has been re-assigned to Belgium and his replacement will be on board by the end of July.

Jeremy Rosado, the local singer who made it to the Top 13 round of the latest season of "American Idol," is the parade's grand marshal. Rosado is a graduate of Durant High School and a student at the Brandon campus of Hillsborough Community College.

Representing Brandon's "pioneering families" are Mike Brandon, the great grandson of town founder John Brandon; Helen Mulrennan Young, whose family is the namesake for Mulrennan Middle School in the Greater Brandon community of Valrico; Judy Darcy, whose family is the King family, for whom Kings Avenue is named; and Paul Dinnis, who founded The Brandon News
