Bands To Rock At Christ Community Church Tonight

The concert is open to the public and in support of a "Night of a Thousand Stars," a Nov. 1 dinner-dance for people with disabilities and their caregivers.

At Christ Community Church tonight, Oct. 5, the public is invited to a band concert in support of a November dinner-dance for people with disabilities and their caregivers.

Tonight's event features "eight to 10 bands, all different genres," rocking to support "Night of a Thousand Stars," scheduled for Nov. 1, also  Christ Community Church, at 1310 John Moore Road in Brandon.

With the community's support, "we're putting together a dance for people with disabilities, ages 16 and up, and their caregivers," said Marcia Minutello, a Tampa Bay area photographer, whose daughter, Laura, was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Florida in 2012.

The Nov. 1 dinner- and-dancing event will feature in-kind donations from area restaurants and businesses. Minutello will provide the photography and a deejay from Bradenton will be in attendance as well.

Volunteers are needed to serve at the Nov. 1 dance.

But first, residents can support the cause by attending tonight's concert of bands, presented by The Noise Box, billed on Facebook as "a group of young individuals who are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those in our community, both local and otherwise."

The concert "features eight to 10 bands, all different genres," Minutello said, and is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The ticket cost is $6. Also on hand, a raffle and cake sale.
