Ultrasound Machine Purchased for Brandon's LifeCare Center on Moon Avenue

Karen Brooks, executive director of the LifeCare Center on Moon Avenue, said the group's aim with a newly purchased ultrasound machine is that every pregnant teen and woman who sees their ultrasound images will choose to give birth.

LifeCare of Brandon pregnancy center is counting on a new ultrasound machine at the center to help save the lives of unborn babies.

Through donations, LifeCare of Brandon purchased the machine along with an examination table, equipment and supplies for $34,000, according to executive director Karen Brooks.

"We are overwhelmed with joy and thanksgiving for our new ultrasound machine," said Brooks. "Our board, staff and volunteers wish to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to our donors who gave immeasurably more to make this possible for the saving of many lives."

Brooks said the hope is that every pregnant teen and woman who sees her baby on the ultrasound will choose life.

LifeCare is also raising funds to purchase an  ultrasound machine for the group's newly opened SouthShore center.

LifeCare of Brandon, at 122 North Moon Ave., is a nonprofit, nondenominational organization committed to providing compassion, information and support to women, couples and families facing the challenge of an unplanned pregnancy.

Since opening its doors in 1987, the center has served nearly 55,000 people.

Services available at both the Brandon center and the SouthShore center, at 310 1st St. N.E., Ruskin, include pregnancy tests, counseling and information related to pregnancy options, medical referrals for sonograms, obstetrical and pediatric services, adoption services referrals and counseling, a boutique for both mom and baby, support groups and childbirth and parenting classes.

LifeCare of Brandon’s mission is to protect and preserve the sanctity of human life, promote sexual abstinence and healthy relationships, and proclaim God’s plan for marriage and the family.
