Brandon Football: Eagles Face Jefferson in Tampa Tonight (Nov. 9)

The Brandon High School Eagles travel for football tonight, Nov. 9, against the Jefferson High School Dragons. Game time in Tampa is at 7:30 p.m.

  The Brandon High Eagles, following last week's 7-6 loss against the East Bay Indians, end their 2012 season tonight, Nov. 9, with an away game against the Jefferson High School Dragons. Brandon faces the Dragons (5-4 overall, 4-2 in league play), ranked nationally and in the state at 1,701 and 121, respectively, according to MaxPreps.com. The Eagles (1-8 overall, 1-4 in league play) are ranked 7,270 in the nation and 371 in the state, according to MaxPreps.com. Brandon at Newsome Falls Short Again, Loss Streak Extended to 5

The Brandon Eagles lost their fifth game of the season with a 35-13 upset at Newsome High School on Oct. 5. Brandon has yet to win a game this season.

  Newsome on its home turf in Lithia extended its win streak to three games with an Oct. 5 upset over the Brandon Eagles (35-13), who went home with their fifth loss in as many games this football season. It was the second conference game for both teams. Newsome is 2-0 in league play and 3-3 overall. Brandon, respectively, is 0-2 and 0-5. Following a rain-delay start, the Eagles took to the field after a 37-14 loss to Sickles the week before. Meanwhile, the Gryphons on Oct. 5 went home with a late-game loss to the Armwood Hawks, who left the Lyle Flagg Field in Seffner with their fifth win in a 5-1 season. ‘Old School’ Football Coach Meets With Brandon High Players, Parents

Dean Eychner, formerly of Hillsborough High, takes over as head football coach for the Brandon High School Eagles. Brandon, his hometown, is “rooted in tradition,” he tells parents and players meeting in the high school’s cafeteria.

  Brandon High School's newly named football coach can be summed up in two words: "Old school." That's the message he brought to parents and players at an informal meeting in the cafeteria of the town's first standalone high school, where he talked as well about the first steps taken to renovate the field house he found in "unacceptable condition."
