State Rep. Rachel Burgin is kicking off her campaign for the state Senate seat held by Ronda Storms with a meet- and-greet fundraiser tonight, June 14, at the Embassy Suites in Brandon. Burgin, who currently holds the District 59 seat in the state House, decided earlier this month to run for the Senate seat that Storms is vacating to run for the office of Hillsborough County Property Appraiser. Burgin's Senate race pits her against former state Senate president Tom Lee. Who will run for the seat in the general election will be determined at the Republican primary on Aug. 14.
