The Newsome Wolves, after upsetting the undefeated Durant Cougars in FHSAA football Class 7A-Region 2 playoff action last week, take aim Nov. 30 against another undefeated team, the Osceola Kissimmee Kowboys.
The Newsome Wolves, following last week's 21-14 win over the undefeated Durant Cougars, advance to the third round of Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) football playoffs, with a Nov. 30 face-off against the undefeated Osceole Kissimmee Kowboys. The Wolves face the Kowboys (12-0, 5-0 in league play), ranked 307 and 22, respectively, according to MaxPreps.com. Meanwhile, the Wolves (8-4 overall, 4-1 in league play) are ranked 889 nationally and 68 in the state, according to MaxPreps.com. The Wolves this season beat East Bay, Chamberlain, Brandon, Riverview, Plant City and Bloomingdale. In the FHSAA playoffs, the Wolves beat Gaither (52-7) and Durant (21-14). The Durant Cougars at home Nov. 16 had a decisive win against the Tampa Bay Tech Titans in the opening round of the FHSAA 2012 football playoffs. Next up for the Cougars, at home Nov. 23, is a face-off against crosstown rivals the Newsome Wolves.
