Durant's Record Season To Remember, Last Game Photos and Video

The Cougars this year went down in school history with Durant's best-ever record, 11-1. Their first loss in a perfect season ends their state title bid. It comes with a sting, but long remembered will be the team's "uniqueness" and family spirit.

  Life in the stands this season ended for the Durant Cougars football team on Nov. 23, with the team's first loss in a record-breaking season to remember. Long remembered will be the team's unity and its sense of family and spunk as it set Durant High's record for best football season ever, with a perfect-season, 10-0, finish going into the 2012 Florida High School Athletic Association's (FHSAA) Class 7A-Region 2 playoff action. The Cougars, following their district crown, started sporting T-shirts that read: "Back 2 Back Champions" (on the back) and "We Are Durant 10-0" on the front. Cougars Host Wolves in Regional Semifinals Tonight (Nov. 23)

The undefeated Durant Cougars vie for their second prep playoff win, facing the Newsome Wolves at home in Plant City at the Ron Frost Stadium. The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) regional semifinal games kicks off at 7:30 p.m.

  The undefeated, Class 7A-District 8 champs, the Durant High School Cougars, continue their march for a state crown tonight, Nov. 23, with the second game of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) playoff season. The Class 7A-Region 2 semifinal game, at the Ron Frost Stadium in Plant City, kicks off 7:30 p.m. against crosstown rivals the Newsome Wolves. Durant faces the Wolves (7-4 overall, 4-1 in league play), ranked nationally and in the state at 1,322 and 104, respectively, according to MaxPreps.com. The Amwood Hawks seek a rematch victory in their second post-season game, facing the Hillsborough Terriers in Tampa. The last time the perennial rivals faced off the Terriers shut out the Hawks in a 3-0 squeaker. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

  The Armwood Hawks continue their march for a state crown tonight, Nov. 23, with the second game of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) playoff season. The Class 6A-Region 2 face-off, in Tampa, kicks off 7:30 p.m. against perennial rivals the Hillsborough High School terriers. Armwood faces the Terriers (9-1 overall, 5-1 in league play), ranked nationally and in the state at 427 and 31, respectively, according to MaxPreps.com. Durant Celebrates Regional Quarterfinal Win (Photos)

  Photos shot at the Ron Frost Stadium at Durant High School in Plant City give testament to the excitement of another win in a perfect season under the Friday Night Lights. The Durant Cougars on Nov. 16 beat the Tampa Bay Tech Titans in the opening round of the 2012 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) season. Next up for Durant is a rematch with crosstown rivals the Newsome Wolves, who posted their first-round playoff win Nov. 16 with a decisive 52-7 win over Gaither. Durant's Perfect Season Record Celebrated on the Field, in the Stands

Excitement and focus on the field and in the stands built throughout the night Nov. 9 as the Durant High School Cougars faced the King High School Lions for the final game of the 2012 season. Durant now stakes claim to a perfect season.

  The Durant High School Cougars made history Nov. 9 with the school's first perfect season, capped with a shutout win (31-0) against the King High School Lions. Here's a look at life in the stands, on the field and from the sidelines at the game that cement's this moment in time for the Durant community. Durant Beats Riverview, Cougars 1 Game Shy of a Perfect Season

It's a season to remember for the Durant Cougars, who came home from Riverview with their ninth win of the season. Brandon loses by 1, Newsome makes it a winning season (at the expense of Plant City) and Armwood comes through with a fourth-quarter win.

There have been lots of Cougar moments this football season and they're all leading up to what likely is to become Durant's perfect season. The Cougars on Nov. 2 traveled to Riverview and came home with their ninth win of the season, beating the Sharks 57-27. Durant, under head coach Mike Gottman, entered the game ranked 354 in the nation and 31 in the state, according to MaxPreps.com. En route to a perfect season, the Cougars this season have beaten Freedom, Alonso, Brandon, Wharton, Plant City, Chamberlain, Newsome, East Bay and Riverview (see chart below). The Cougars have amassed 329 points in nine outings, averaging out to 36.6 points per game. Their closest game was a one-pointer win over Wharton. The Cougars this year shut-out …

The Armwood Hawks beat the Strawberry Crest Chargers on Oct. 12 while the Durant Cougars dominated the Chamberlain Chiefs. Life on and off the football field is captured in these Brandon Patch photos and videos.

  Friday night football in Eastern Hillsborough County included the Oct. 12 contests between Armwood and Strawberry Crest and between Durant and Chamberlain. Both Greater Brandon area teams won: It was homecoming for the Durant Cougars and senior night for the Strawberry Crest Chargers, where the bands faced-off after fourth-quarter play.
