Wife Behind Bars After Husband's Shooting Death

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports on the death of Ervin Washington at his home on Winston Manor Circle in Seffner. His wife, Emon Tennille Kellar, faces a charge of first-degree murder with a firearm.

  Slashed tires, verbal threats and a stabbing preceded the death of Ervin Washington of Seffner, whose death came at the hands of his wife, Emon Tennille Kellar, according to a report from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Washington, 33, reportedly called his mother May 19 at around 10:30 p.m. from the Walmart on U.S. Highway 92, where his wife "stabbed him and flattened all four tires of his truck." The report further notes that his mother picked him up, took him to her residence and rendered first aid. He was dead the next day. A charge of first-degree murder with a firearm was lodged against Kellar, 34, who lived with her husband at 130 Winston Manor Circle in Seffner. Man With Loaded Firearm Arrested Near Turkey Creek Middle School

A Plant City man was apprehended this week after Turkey Creek's school resource officer spotted him walking by with a holstered firearm." The man's "extensive criminal history" included lewd or lascivious molestation of minors.

  A self-proclaimed "sovereign citizen" was arrested on school grounds in Plant City, after the suspect, Bruce Charmers Hicks, 46, strolled by Turkey Creek Middle School on May 16 with a "small firearm holstered on his left hip," according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Hicks, a resident of Plant City, at 5004 Calhoun Road, reportedly now faces charges of possession of a firearm on school property, felon in possession of a firearm and the open carrying of a firearm. It was reported that he had an extensive crimial history, including lewd or lascivious molestation of victims under age 18. Arrest Report: Killer Stabbed 35 Times, Cut Throat

Store surveillance video leads to the arrest of a man believed to be homeless, wanted in the death of Wilkin Mieses Baker, who was discovered lying face down in the grass at the north side of Extra Space Storage off Providence Road.

  A man believed to be homeless has been arrested in the killing of Wilkin Mieses Baker, 27, whose dead body was discovered by a landscaper May 14, lying face down in the grass at the north side of Extra Space Storage on the east side of Providence Road, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Surveillance video from a nearby convenience store on Providence Road reportedly showed Baker, wearing a "gold neck chain," inside the store with his alleged killer May 13, at around 10:47 p.m. In custody is Washington Emiliano Beltran, who turns 19 on May 20. He faces charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery, according to the sheriff's report. It was determined, too, that Beltran had an outstanding arrest warrant for felony …

I realize at 18 you're an adult, but to be 18, homeless, and already capable of murder; I wonder what went wrong?!?! This entire story should be a STRONG lesson to all you juveniles out there who are doing drugs, it only gets worse from where you are now. It's best to never begin in the first place.   more ›

Residents React to Wheeler Road Deputy Involved Shooting

The investigators and reporters that disrupted a neighborhood's peace brought out a good number of onlookers, there to see the investigation under way on West Wheeler Road in Seffner.

  The sheriff's cars and yellow caution tape, along with the investigators, reporters and cameras that disrupted the peace in a laid-back Seffner community, caused curious onlookers to congregate near the corner of West Wheeler Road and North Taylor Street on May 14. Nearby, Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee was on the scene as well, across the street from 904 West Wheeler Road, where earlier in the afternoon a deputy on backup fired the fatal shot that claimed the life of Bobby Earl Driggers. Among the onlookers was Donna Denhoff and her daughter, Shea, who was home sick for the day from Blake High School, where she studies dance in the arts magnet program. Bobby Earl Driggers, Dead in Seffner Shooting

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has reported the identity of the 50-year-old man fatally shot by a deputy in Seffner today, May 14. Bobby Earl Driggers reportedly had "a violent history as a career criminal" dating back to 1993 in Kansas.

  The man fatally shot by a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputy today, May 14, has been identified as 50-year-old Bobby Earl Driggers. "Driggers has a violent history as a career criminal dating as far back as 1993 in the state of Kansas, where he served prison time for crimes such as murder, armed robbery and attempted murder," according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Report, issued at 7:06 p.m. tonight. In Florida, "Drigger's crime spree dates back [to] 2003, with prison time served for 14 criminal charges with eight felony convictions," the report continues. Sheriff Gee: Deputy's Shot Kills 'Career Criminal'

On video, Hillsborough Sheriff David Gee talks about the "multi-state offender" fatally shot in Seffner after he reportedly struggled to free a deputy's firearm. The victim was "on our radar" to reduce violent crime in East Hillsborough County, Gee said.

  His rap sheet was long, said Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee, in reference to the 50-year-old white male who was fatally shot by a deputy in Seffner on May 14. According to Gee, who spoke to reporters at the scene at around 3:30 p.m., the man was "on our radar over the last few days, involved in some violent crimes." His name was being withheld, pending notification of his next of kin. "I will tell you he is a 50-year-old white male, he is a multi-state offender, he has done time in another state, [having] been charged with murder [and] robbery," Gee said. Dead Man Found, Tips Sought From Community

A black male with "upper body trauma" was found dead in a field at the north side of the Extra Space Storage facility on Providence Road. Residents are asked to report any information they might have concerning the "suspicious death investigation."

  McLane Middle School Principal Frank Oliver met the press outside his school May 3 to discuss the aftermath of a pepper spray incident that caused the evacuation of one floor and the late dismissal of about 900 students. Coming on the heels of the FCAT testing season, "kids had a lot of pent-up energy, they were eager to get loose," Oliver said. "I'm just very disappointed about all this commotion, all these things that have happened today." 12-Year-Old Questioned in McLane 'Pepper Spray' Incident

Officials questioned a McLane Middle School student after a chemical agent, believed to be pepper spray or mace, was released in a school hallway May 3. Ninety-three people were in distress, including 37 who were transported for hospital treatment.

  School buses rolled out about 40 minutes later than usual May 3 at McLane Middle School, where a chemical spray released earlier in the day, in a school hallway, injured 93 people, including 37 who were transported to the hospital with what were reported to be "very minor injuries." While a press conference was being held outside the school, after the final school buses left for the day, a 12-year-old student was being detained in the principal's office, according to Major Clyden Eisenbergy of the Hillsborugh County Sheriff's Office. "At this time we have a 12-year-old student who we're questioning as a suspect in this case," Eisenberg said. "There's evidence to suggest that this 12-year-old student dispersed this agent."
