Jeremy Rosado of Valrico, a Top 13 finisher in the 2012 American Idol season, has a big week in store, starting with the online release of his single followed by a Brandon debut of his CD. The single, "Don't Be Afraid," featuring Pablo Villatoro, formerly of Group 1 Crew, is scheduled to be released online, at iTunes and Amazon and more, on April 2. The 28th Annual Arts Gala of Center Place at the T. Pepin Hospitality Centre features performances by "American Idol" contestant Jeremy Rosado. Awarded were the Patricia B. Odiorne Scholarship and the S.L. "Spud" Clements and First Annual C.A.R.E. awards.
It was a casual, dress-down-in-jeans, fundraising affair for the Center Place Fine Arts & Civic Association at the T. Pepin Hospitality Centre in Tampa on April 28. Some 250 people convened to bear tribute to a center that for decades in Brandon has offered arts programs for adults and childen as well as a place to meet for civic, cultural, charitable and family affairs. This year's gala, as in year's past, is an opportunity as well to present annual awards, including the Patricia B. Odiorne Scholarship winner and the S.L. "Spud" Clements Award recipient. When he heard there was going to be a "Welcome Back" party in his honor, Jeremy Rosado joked that he thought the only people who would show up were his parents and siblings. But the one-time "American Idol" contestant and Valrico resident underestimated his fans. More than 1,500 people were on hand to see him perform at Uncle Mike's Smokehouse Grill, 9847 East Adamo Dr., Tampa, on Saturday, March 24. The day was made all the more special because it marked Rosado's 20th birthday, an occasion that didn't go unnoticed by the crowd, which honored him with a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday."
