First Watch Plans To Open Daytime Cafe in Brandon

First Watch announces plans to open in Brandon at Lake Brandon Village, in the building that once housed Blinds To Go.

  First Watch is planning to serve made-to-order breakfast, brunch and lunch at Lake Brandon Village in Brandon, in a freestanding building expected to open in the summer and to employ about 25 people. “Over the years, we have received more requests to open a restaurant in Brandon than any other area,” said Chris Tomasso, chief marketing officer for First Watch. “We have a long history in the Tampa Bay area and have been fortunate to have built a tremendously loyal following that we are confident will carry over to this new restaurant in Brandon.” First Watch The Daytime Cafe in Brandon will occupy the 3,400- square-foot space that once housed Blinds To Go, across the street from the Walmart Supercenter on Causeway Blvd. The First Watch …

'Mr. Popper's Penguins' a $1 Chick-fil-A 'Summer Fun Flick' at AMC The Regency 20

Chick-fil-A of Lake Brandon Village is back with an extended “Summer Fun Flicks” program, Tuesdays at AMC The Regency 20. Eight movies for $1, with proceeds benefiting ECHO, Center Place and the YMCA.

  Plan ahead for Chick-fil-A's "Summer Fun Flicks," which returns to the AMC The Regency 20 on June 26 with a 10 a.m. showing of "Mr. Popper's Penguins, a family movie rated PG. Tammy Holmberg Named Brandon's 2011 Key Citizen of the Year (VIDEO)

Chick-fil-A owner Tammy Holmberg paid tribute to her husband and partner, Paul, in accepting the 2011 Key Citizen of the Year Award at the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce dinner Feb. 3 at HCC at The Regent.

  Brandon paid tribute to Tammy Holmberg and, by association, her husband, Paul, at the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce membership dinner at HCC at The Regent. Holmberg received the 2011 Key Citizen of the Year Award, for her tireless work as a community minded business owner, with a slew of testimonials to her credit for the countless number of events she has supported through the years. Holmberg, a former honorary mayor of Brandon, with her husband, Paul, are the owners of the Chick-fil-A restaurant in Lake Brandon Village on Causeway Boulevard. Rotary Club of South Brandon Selling Tickets for ‘Lobstah' Fest’ Fundraiser

Rotarians will present the 2011 "Lobstah’ Fest” fundraiser at the Winthrop Pole Barn in Riverview on Sept. 17. Tickets are on sale at the Lake Brandon Village Chickf-fil-A, the Osprey Observer in Brandon and Jaymer Que BBQ in Valrico.

Have a hankering for fresh seafood? Then the Rotary Club of South Brandon has an event for you. The club will host its first Lobstah' Fest this Saturday, Sept. 17, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Winthrop Pole Barn, 11349 Bloomingdale Ave., Riverview. "This is the first time we're doing this fundraiser," said club president, Kathy Collins. "Our Mad Hatter's Tea Party in the spring [at Cross Creek Ranch in Dover] was such a success that we decided to try an additional event so we can raise even more for the nonprofits in the community. We hope to make this an annual event." Member Rob Silver came up with the idea of hosting the Lobstah' Fest. He did a similar event when he was running for honorary mayor of Brandon and it proved very popular. …
