First Watch Hiring for Daytime Cafe in Brandon

First Watch The Daytime Cafe is hiring for its anticipated mid-June opening at Lake Brandon Village in Brandon, in the building that once housed Blinds To Go on Causeway Boulevard.

  Hiring is under way as remodeling continues for FirstWatch The Daytime Cafe at Lake Brandon Village, which after its anticipated mid-June opening will begin serving made-to-order breakfast, brunch and lunch in a freestanding building on Causeway Boulevard. First Watch will occupy the 3,400- square-foot space that once housed Blinds To Go, at 11305 Causeway Blvd., across the street from the Walmart Supercenter, west of Providence Road.  Cafe applications are being accepted on site, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All types of jobs are open, including servers, bussers, cooks and dishwashers. Orange Leaf Yogurt Offers Tuesday Deal

The Orange Leaf Yogurt shop is newly opened next door to AMC The Regency 20 at the Regency Square shopping center in Brandon.

  Newly opened at the Regency Square shopping center in Brandon is the Orange Leaf Yogurt shop, which on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. offers a 20 percent-off Senior Day discount for guests ages 55 and up. At Orange Leaf, patrons "grab a cup," select a flavor, add toppings and then pay according to the treat's weight. Orange Leaf makes the distinction between "a rich and creamy traditional frozen dessert" and "an icy, bland frozen yogurt" by noting its "decadent flavors reminiscent of your childhood trips to the local dessert shop as well as fruit-based flavors that will suit even the most health-conscious individuals." The 2013 Cruise for Kids Motorcycle Run kicks off today, May 19, in Brandon, at the Brandon Haley Davidson on State Road 60, with Uncle Mike's Smokehouse Grill set to serve a pre-registration breakfast.

Get a Taste of Brandon at Florida State Fairgrounds Today (May 16)

Celebrating its 25th year, the Brandon Business Expo and Taste of Brandon returns to the Florida State Fairgrounds today, May 16. The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce takes a retrospective approach to promoting the 2013 offering.

The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce has been busy promoting its signature event, which this year celebrates its 25th year. The Brandon Business Expo and Taste of Brandon is scheduled for today, May 16, at the Florida State Fairgrounds, from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Recognizing the quarter-century milestone, chamber officials have beeen posting blogs on its Web site , including one that takes a look back at the "big hair" and "shoulder pads" that were all the rage when the event in 1989 "welcomed its very first guests through the doors of the Sheraton Tampa East Hotel. Taco Bus Sets Grand Opening Date

Taco Bus is set to open on Falkenburg Road in the Greater Brandon area of Tampa.

UPDATE, May 9: Taco Bus has delayed the opening of the Brandon location. Earlier: The sign outside the building and repurposed yellow school bus on Falkenburg Road notes that "Taco Bus Brandon" is "Opening Spring 2013." The date for that grand opening has been set. A grand opening party is set for May 28, according to a report written in the Tampa Bay edition of The Current. According Taco Bus online, the restaurant features "traditional recipes from every region of the country, each prepared daily with fresh ingredients in a custom kitchen." Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the menu features as well a variety of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free selections. Chef Rene Valenzuela is noted as the owner of both Taco Bus and Taqueria …

New Restaurant Opening, Guess Where in Brandon

Another restaurant is set to open in Brandon.

  Duly noted is the expected May opening of a restaurant in Brandon featuring Mexican food. At a shopping center in Brandon, near the corner of two major roadways, this Mexican restaurant will feature "authentic taqueria steak, chicken, fish or shrimp, tacos, sopes," according to a window sign. Zapps, What Is It?

A new sign is up in Brandon, announcing the arrival of another business.

  Zapps, what is it? It's a new business in Brandon, featuring "food, spirits, fun" and "entertainment," according to a sign posted out front. Zapps is "coming soon" and will fill the space vacated by the Boomerang Martini Bar, adjacent to the closed Borders, near the entranceways to both the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway and the Westfield Brandon shopping mall. Zapps is set to open at 2016 Town Center Blvd.

Who's Offering 70 Percent Discounts at the Mall?

Westfield Brandon store is closing, prompting "final days" announcement of steep discounts.

  Looking for an affordable piece of jewerly? Now might be a time to visit the Westfield Brandon shopping center, where "final days" sale signs announcing 70 percent discounts are plastered throughout Venetian Jewelers. The store is closing, according to a set of black-and-gold signs, clearly visible to 2013 Westfield Brandon shoppers on Thursday, April 25. The store is caddy corner to the carousel, in the hallway leading to the food court. According to a three-year-old Tampa Bay Times report, Venetian Jewelers opened in Brandon in May 2010, featuring "some affordable diamond jewelry, with prices as low as about $30,but also "items that run as high as $12,000."
