Turkey’s Life Spared by Owner of O’Brien’s Irish Pub in Brandon

No platter for this turkey, named Mickey, who marks the seventh time in seven years that a fowl has been spared the expected Thanksgiving Day fate.

Here's one turkey that won't see a roasting pan this Thanksgiving. Each year for the past seven years, Sean O'Brien, owner of O'Brien's Irish Pub, 701 W. Lumsden Rd., Brandon, spares the life of a turkey. This year's turkey, named Mickey, took center stage at the pub during the Thanksgiving holiday. He’ll later be transferred to a local farm to live out his days without fear of the butcher block. "It's just something I do every year," said Rice. "The customers enjoy it and I get a kick out of saving a life."
