Valrico Rotary Club Set for Pig-A-Palooza at Rotary's Camp Florida

Ready for some southern-style barbecue? The second annual, 2013 Pig-A-Palooza Southern Style BBQ, presented by the Valrico Rotary Club at Rotary's Camp Florida in Brandon, is set for March 9.

  The Valrico Rotary Club, which serves the Greater Brandon area, has announced the March 9 date for the 2013 Pig-a-Palooza Southern Style BBQ to be held at Rotary's Camp Florida in Brandon, an 18-acre camp for children with special needs. Proceeds benefit "many of the local charities in the Greater Brandon area, including the Bill Carey Boys & Girls Club in Brandon, Faces of Courage, Rotary's Camp Florida, the Emergency Care Help Organization (ECHO), LLT Academy Learning Fun and LifeCare of Brandon. Sponsors Sought for 2nd Pig-a-Palooza

This year's event is scheduled March 9.

  The Valrico Rotary Club seeks sponsors for its second annual Pig-a-Palooza fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, March 9, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Rotary's Camp Florida in Brandon, at 1915 Camp Florida Road. The cost is $25 for adults, $20 for military and first responders and $5 for children, ages 14 to 18. Younger children gain admission with a nonperishable food donation. In exchange, attendees will feast on all-you-can-eat pulled and sliced pork, chicken and sausage, baked beans, cole slaw, taters and bread. The event will feature music and beer for the adults and a bouncy house, jungle gym and games for the kids. New Valrico Rotary Club Meets at Beef O'Brady's on Bell Shoals

The new club is designed for Rotarians who want to meet in the evenings.

Just two members shy of having the 25 members needed to become chartered, the area's newest Rotary club is now meeting at Beef O' Brady's, 4330 Bell Shoals Rd., Valrico, each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The new Valrico Rotary Club is being organized by Ryan Odiorne and Chris McGuire, both former members of the Brandon '86 Rotary Club, who said they recognized a need for an evening club for Rotarians who can't get away for club meetings in the morning or at lunch. "As far as I can tell, we're the only evening Rotary club meeting in the district," said McGuire, who serves as the club's vice president. Odiorne is president of the club. So far, the club has 23 members and needs 25 to become chartered under Rotary International rules. "We're very …
