MISSION: The mission of Liberty Manor for Veterans, Inc. is to provide housing to disabled and homeless veterans who have fallen victim to homelessness for the first time and providing them with all resources necessary that will lead to independence.

Our request is intended to serve recently homeless veterans with an alternative to living on the streets by being placed in a home where there is a nice dry bed, food and clothing which is expected to contribute to the veteran’s future independence. Funding would serve to strengthen our community but more importantly a veteran’s life by effectively fulfilling the mission, increasing functionality.

Our Board and Staff at Liberty Manor are committed to making an impact on our veterans because when you effectively make an impact on a single person, you have theoretically affected five generations. The first being the actual individual that was the benefactor of the assistance, their children and grandchildren, and in all probability surviving parent(s) and quite possibly grandparent(s). Since Liberty Manor’s modality consists of assisting male veterans by helping them become financially self-sufficient, this initiative makes it possible for a father to contribute financially to the well-being of their dependents. This initiative can contribute to the stability of the family unit. What an outstanding way for us to make a difference in our community!

I have served as Chief Executive Officer as a volunteer for fourteen years and could not be more devoted to this initiative. The premise for my decision to serve was two-fold – out of all nonprofits that I could choose to donate my time and financial resources to -veterans are the only ones that have already provided a service to us in advance.

Liberty Manor identified a “void in services" in 2005 as it relates to homeless veterans when we learned that veterans who worked hard and “played it straight” all their life and refrained from drugs and/or alcohol receive no services or housing! It was then when we evidenced that our returning veterans were not well-supported, and many go without services due to a lack in government funding and the "void in services" was not being addressed. Therefore, the objective of Liberty Manor for Veterans, Inc., was to provide housing and all social service resources necessary to achieve the goal of self-sufficiency as it relates to homeless veterans. This meritorious initiative is the first of its kind as we do not provide housing in cases when the veteran has an addition, instead, we provide housing to those who have “played it straight all their life”, but merely fell victim to homelessness due to a resent disability or an unemployment situation which has caused them to become homeless. The military even had a motto "leave no man behind", however, our veterans were experiencing grave difficulty when expected to transition into the civilian world and if statistics are true, we can safely assume that our veteran’s needs were not being met and they were being forgotten. Our objective is accomplished by reintegrating veterans into meaningful career opportunities. We have grown to understand that it is almost impossible for any individual to maintain full-time gainful employment or sustain good health if they do not maintain good hygiene and have a good night’s sleep. If we deem the veteran to be disabled, we assist them to apply for a deserving disability pension and provide them with some of the fundamental needs necessary to meet the objectives established. It is our goal to make the greatest impact on the homeless veteran population in the country! We are the leaders and the pioneers in providing residential services and resources to homeless and disabled veterans - who do not suffer from any substance abuse addictions additionally, we are the first in the country to provide this service.

Using the mathematical equation of our current residents does not nearly take into consideration the actual impact of the grant. To magnify the real impact, one would have to multiply the current number of veterans that we currently serve, multiplied by the number of years we serve veterans in the future and many others that benefit by your generously. The benefit is astronomical!
