Uncle Mike's To Expand, Open New Restaurant

The new location will open towards the beginning of August.

Mike and Simone Talley, owners and operators of Uncle Mike's Smokehouse Grill in Brandon, are gearing up to open a second location in their hometown of Plant City.

Set to open Aug. 8 is the couple's second location, at 106 East State Road 60, which once housed Cowboys Steakhouse and Saloon.

The 11-acre site features both an 8,000- square-foot log cabin building and a 3,000- square-foot open pavilion that the Talley's will be using. Also on the site is a 10,000- square-foot retail building that might be used in the future and an 8-acre arena that will be used for quarterly events, such as bike shows and rodeos.

At a press conference today, June 3, in Brandon, Mike Talley made it clear the old saloon was gutted and is being refurbished into a family friendly eatery, featuring barbecue selections with a smokehouse flair.

Following the Aug. 8 opening, Uncle Mike's will continue its Plant City debut celebration with live county music Aug. 9 and 10, featuring Plant City's The Clemons Road Band.
